IO Interactive’s latest game, 007 First Light, has become its fastest-selling title, with over 1.5 million copies sold within the first 24 hours.
After an early access period for Digital Deluxe Edition owners that began on May 26, it launched on May 27 on all platforms, including Xbox, Steam, Epic Games, and PS5.
The studio behind the game is known for the Hitman series. This strong start marks a significant milestone for a developer that went bust less than a decade ago.
Sales breakdown for 007 First Light’s record launch
Of the total 1.5 million sales in the first 24 hours, at least 500,000 came from Steam, according to data from Alinea Analytics. The studio brought in over $25 million in revenue from Steam sales alone.
The remaining sales came from Xbox Play Anywhere, Epic Games, and PS5. The game was released on all platforms at the same time, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version being confirmed for a later, unknown date.
This launch marks a significant milestone for IO Interactive. The studio was once part of Square Enix, which withdrew its support in 2017. Before achieving a management buyout, IO Interactive was reportedly close to closure.
After becoming independent again, the studio developed the Hitman trilogy, which received both commercial and critical praise. Its latest release, 007 First Light, has now become the studio’s fastest-selling title, surpassing the initial sales pace of previous games.
007 What is First Light and how does it work?

First Light is the origin story of MI6 agent James Bond, showing how he became the agency’s most famous operative. This is an original story, not based on any existing film.
The game is built around the stealth-action gameplay IO Interactive developed with the Hitman series.
First Light is available now on Xbox Play Anywhere, Steam, Epic Games, and PS5. IO Interactive has not announced plans for post-launch content or a release date for the planned Nintendo Switch 2 version.
